WALTHAM, Mass. – Men’s track and field sophomore Jack Allan of Wrentham, Massachusetts, has been named the February 7 Brandeis Athlete of the Week, presented by The Chateau Restaurant Group.
Competing at the 2018 Tufts Cupid Challenge on Friday and Saturday, February 2 and 3, Allan established a new school record in the heptathlon. His score of 4475 broke his own record set last year by 145 points.
Allan won five of the seven events at Tufts: the 60-meter dash (7.48 seconds); the 60-meter hurdles (8.76 seconds); the high jump (1.85m/6 feet, ¾ inch); the long jump (6.36m/20 feet, 10 ½ inches); and the shot put (11.09m/36 feet, 4 ¾ inches). Allan set person-bests in each of those events except the long jump. Thanks to those performances, Allan is currently ranked 27th in Division III in the event.
Brandeis returns to action this weekend at Boston University and MIT, before starting championship competition next weekend with the New England Division III championships at Middlebury for the men and Springfield for the women.
