Playing at No. 6 singles, Wolfe played the clinching match as the Judges, ranked 20th in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, defeated #19 Bates College, 5-4. After the Judges won two out of three doubles matches, Bates rallied to win the first three singles matches. Brandeis responded with wins at No. 4 and No. 5, setting the stage for Wolfe’s heroics. After dropping the first set to Bates’s Alex Kennedy, 7-6 (7-4), Wolfe rallied to win the next two sets, 6-2, 6-2, for the Judges’ first win of the season against a ranked opponent. The win was Wolfe’s fourth in a row that came in three sets, and he rallied from a one-set deficit in three of those matches.

Overall this season, the Judges are 4-1, with their only loss coming to the #6 team in Division III. They will return to action on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. against RPI.

This is the third year of the Brandeis Athlete of the Week program presented by The Chateau Restaurant Group.
