WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University rookie pitcher Drew
Brzozowski (Concord, Mass.) scattered seven hits and struck out six
in 8.1 innings of work to improve to 4-1 on the season as the
Judges defeated visiting Becker College, 10-1, on Stein Diamond
Brandeis (14-13) had four players register multiple hits, paced by senior SS Zach Golden (Milton, Mass.), who went 2-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. Golden scored the team's first run on an error in the third inning and added a two-run double in the seventh. Becker (7-18) stranded two runners in the sixth inning and finally broke through in the seventh with an RBI groundout by junior RF Josue Lopez (Manchester, Conn.).
Brandeis led, 3-1, headed into the seventh inning when they blew the game open with seven runs. The Judges sent 11 men to the plate as they batted around for the third game in a row and the ninth time this season. Golden and Likis each had run-scoring doubles in the frame. Senior RF Ben Dashefsky (Massapequa, N.Y.) added a sacrifice fly and rookie Drake Livada (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) had an RBI single. Likis also scored a run on a wild pitch.
