Nicholson claims All-ECAC Second Team honors
Graduate student Pat Nicholson was named to the ECAC Division III New England All Star second team today. He is the Judges' first All-ECAC selection since 2006.

O'Hare, Lambert honored by NEIBA
The New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association honored Brandeis senior Sean O'Hare with a berth on the roster of the Division II-III All-Star team, while Brian Lambert '98 was presented with their Kevin Burr Assistant Coach Award.

Baseball drops two at #22 Trinity (Conn.) to close season
Junior Chris Ferro went 5-8 with a pair of doubles, but it wasn't enough as the Judges concluded the season with losses by the scores of 3-0 and 6-4 at the hands of the Bantams. The Judges close the season with a record of 8-31.

Baseball routs Bowdoin, 14-7, on Senior Day
Judge seniors accounted for nine hits and 10 runs scored, while pitching four innings of effective relief, to earn the win in their last home game. Alex Tynan tossed 3.1 innings of five-hit ball out of the pen.

Sophomore Brian Ing tossed seven innings of five-hit ball, but host Endicott scored an unearned run in the eighth inning to give the Gulls a victory. Rookie 2B Tommy McCarthy went 3-3 with a run scored.

Swerdloff gem carries Judges past Roger Williams, 3-1
Junior Mike Swerdloff tossed the first nine-inning complete game, fanning eight in the process as the Judges topped the Hawks. Rookie Tommy McCarthy went 3-4 and scored two of Brandeis's three runs.

Despite a homer and a double from senioe Sean O'Hare in his second game back in the lineup following an injury, the baseball team couldn't erase the Owls' seven-run first inning.

Playing for the first time since March 17, senior Sean O'Hare hit home runs in his first two plate appearances, but the Judges couldn't hang on as the visitors scored five runs in the sixth inning.

Despite four strong innings of relief from sophomore Brian Ing and an RBI triple from senior Kenny Destremps, the Judges were unable to pick up the win in Providence.

Baseball can't build momentum as Worcester State rallies for 6-5 win
The Judges got a fine starting performance from junior Mike Swerdloff, who threw seven innings of seven hit ball, but the Lancers struck for three in the eighth and walked off with the win in the ninth.

Baseball snaps skid, 14-13 in 10 innings, over UMass Dartmouth
Senior Kenny Destremps hit two sacrifice flies, one in the eighth and a walk-off shot in the 10th, as part of a four RBI day to lead the Judges to their first win in New England.

Colby takes two from baseball team, 13-11 & 7-1
Senior Zach Malis had three doubles in the first game and the team's only RBI in the second, but some costly errors allowed the visiting Mules to rally for the win in the opener, while fine pitching prevailed in game two.

The Judges had three doubles, a two-run triple by rookie Brian Allen and turned four double plays on the afternoon, but they couldn't stop the Anchormen, who had three different three-run innings to take the win in Providence.

Despite strong performances by junior 1B Pat Seaward and senior LF Zach Malis, a big six-run fifth inning by the Engineers was too much to overcome in the loss

Rookie Kyle Brenner tossed his third complete game of the season, but the host Jumbos, ranked No. 5 in New England and No. 21 in the nation according to the ABCA, rallied with two in the eight and two in the ninth for the win.

Despite the second home run of the season from senior Kenny Destremps, and a 2-for-3 performance with two runs and a double from sophomore Brian Ing, the baseball team's struggles continued in a loss to Corsairs.

Despite a complete-game four-hitter in the opener by junior Mike Swerdloff and a seven-inning, six-hit outing by grad-student Pat Nicholson, the Judges dropped decisions of 3-2 and 2-1 in extra innings.

Sophomore Brian Ing scored the Judges's first run and drove in the game-tying run to force the free baseball, but Brandeis couldn't hold the visiting Rams off the board in the 10th in dropping their second extra-inning affair of the season.

Sophomore Colin Markel tossed his first career complete game,an eight-inning eight-hitter, and the Judges scored twice in the ninth inning, but their rally fell short against the streaking Bears, who have won 12 in a row.

Bats awaken, but baseball drops two on Day 3 of UAA tournament
The Judges had a couple of innings in which they scored as many runs as they had in their first two games combined, but it wasn't enough as they fell to Rochester, 6-5, and Emory, 11-7. Senior outfielder Zach Malis had the day's big blow, a grand slam against Eagles in a six-run fifth.

Despite multi-hit games from three different players, the Judges couldn't overcome three big innings against the Bears, who scored three in the first, four in the fifth and seven in the seventh to end the game early.

Baseball drops UAA opener to Emory, 6-0
The Judges were on the wrong end of a five-hitter to rival Emory, as the Eagles got a UAA-record 13 strikeouts from starter Connor Dillman. Junior Chris Ferro and sophomore Dom Schwartz each had doubles for Brandeis, which fell to 4-4 on the season.

Judges from the baseball and women's tennis team were honored for their first week of competition, while men's fencing was recognized as the winter season winds down.

Rookie Kyle Brenner tossed his second complete game in as many career starts, scattering nine hits, while senior Kenny Destremps hit a game-winning home run in the sixth inning to give the Judges a 4-3 record on their February trip to Florida.

Senior 2B went 5-for-8 with four doubles, including three in a losing cause in the opener, as the Judges moved to 3-3 on the campaign. Grad student Pat Nicholson and sophomore Brian Ing had home runs on the day.

The Judges got their first extra-base hits of the season, home runs by senior Sean O'Hare and junior Chris Ferro, but Augustana (Ill.) scored runs in every inning, including five in the first, to take a 16-2 victory.

Baseball splits first DIII games of season against Augustana (Ill.)
The Judges suffered a 12-0 loss to Augustana (Ill.) in their first game against a Division III opponent this season, but got a complete-game win from rookie Kyle Brenner in the second game for a 3-1 win. Senior captain Sean O'Hare had three hits, a run and a stolen base.

Baseball opens season with 7-3 win over NAIA Warner
The Judges scored seven runs in the first two innings, while holding the host Royals off the board through six to pick up the victory. Junior Chris Ferro and grad student Pat Nicholson had two hits each, while sophomore Colin Markel picked up the win on the hill.

Announcing the 2012 Brandeis Athletic Hall of Fame Class
Six standout athletes whose careers spanned the first half-century of Brandeis’ sports history will be inducted into the 14th class of the Joseph Linsey Brandeis Athletic Hall of Fame during ceremonies on March 31 in the Gosman Sports and Convocation Center on campus, Director of Athletics Sheryl Sousa ’90 and Friends of Brandeis Athletics (FOBA) President Jim Leahy '85 announced.
