Chris Travers enters his 3rd year on the Brandeis coaching staff, having joined the program for the 2016 season. Travers works with the hitters and catchers.
In his first year with the team, Brandeis went 19-17, qualifying for the ECAC tournament for the first time since the 2011 season. The Judges hit for a .308 average in Travers' first season working with the hitters, their best since 2008.
Travers played his collegiate baseball at Roger Williams University where he was the four-year starting catcher. During his senior season, Travers served as team captain and received 2nd Team All-CCC and CCC All-Academic honors. Travers holds the Roger Williams University Baseball record for career Fielding Percentage (.995).
In the summer of 2013, Travers was a NECBL All-Star, representing the New Bedford Bay Sox. He also received First Team All-NECBL honors, leading the NECBL in On Base Percentage (.462). Travers went on to sign a contract with the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the prestigious Cape Cod League during the season. Travers played again for the Bay Sox of the NECBL in the summer of 2014.
Travers spent the 2015 summer season as an Assistant to the Commissioner of the Futures League.
Chris Travers graduated cum laude from Roger Williams University in 2015 with a B.S. in Business Management and a Minor in Psychology. He is a native of East Freetown, MA and an alumni of Apponequet High School.
