Junior Lee Bloom, competing at the University Athletic Association championships for the first time, earned second-team All-Conference honors as the Judges shot +98 to finish fifth overall. Bloom fired rounds of 77 and 82 to finish +17 at Flowery Branch CC in Atlanta.
Thanks to the efforts of Aaron Hattenbach '09, the Brandeis golf team will have at least one more season of competition. The senior tri-captain helped raise more than $20,000 to help fund the budget for the 2009-10 season.
Sophomore Lee Bloom fired an eight-over-par 79 to lead the Brandeis golf team to a tie for seventh place at the Worcester State College Invitational. The meet was the Judges' final tune-up for the UAA Championships at Emory this weekend.
STOW, Mass. The Brandeis University golf team finished tied for 12th place in the Lou Flumere Invitational which was held at the Stow Acres Country Club. The field consisted of 20 other golf teams and 100 total players in a one-round tournament.
PLYMOUTH, Mass. The Brandeis University golf team competed in the 2009 Babson Golf Spring Opener this past weekend. The field consisted of 13 other golf teams and 70 total players in a two-round tournament. Brandeis finished the tournament in 13th place out of 14 teams.
The Brandeis golf team shaved 32 strokes off their score and improved seven places on the second day of the NEIGA championships, finishing in 22nd place among 44 teams and 7th among Division III squads. All four scoring golfers broke 80 for the Judges, who posted a second-round 309, their best single-day score at the NEIGAs under coach Bill Shipman.
The Brandeis University golf team shot a team score of 341 (+53) on the first day of action at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA), held at the Captain's Course in Brewster, Mass. The Judges sit in 27th place overall, ninth among Division III squads.
The Brandeis golf team shot the fourth-lowest team round of the tournament with a 298 on the second day to finish sixth out of 17 teams at the ECAC New England Championships at Tunxis Plantation Golf Course in Farmington, Conn.
Brandeis rookie Aaron Cusato (San Diego, Calif.) shot his best round as a collegian to tie with five other players for second place at the Blazer Invitational hosted by Elms College at Chicopee Country Club. Thanks to his second-place finish, the Judges came in eighth of 13 teams at the event.
Four Brandeis student-athletes have been selected as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 14. Junior Lee Bloom of West Hartford, Conn., was honored for golf; sophomore Rachel Rosman of Bonita Springs, Fla., for women's tennis; sophomore Paige Blasco of Greeley, Colo., for volleyball; and rookie Sean O'Hare of Southampton, Mass., for men's soccer.
