Brandeis golfers tie for seventh at Worcester State
STERLING, Mass. -- The Brandeis golf team finished in a tie for seventh place out of 15 teams at the Worcester State Invitational at Sterling National Golf Course today. The meet was the Judges' final tune-up for the University Athletic Association championships which will be held this weekend in Atlanta.
Junior Lee Bloom (W. Hartford, Conn./Loomis Chafee) led the way for the Judges for the fifth time this season, but first since Oct. 17 with an eight-over-par 79. Bloom tied for 17th place. The Judges had an impressive spread of five strokes from top to bottom of their line-up. Sophomore Charles Sacks (Phoenix, Ariz./Jess Schwartz) was second with an 81 (+10), tying him for 30th place. Sophomore Daniel Goldsmith (Herlizya Pituach, Israel/WBAIS) was one shot behind in a tie for 32nd with an 82 (+11), while seniors Ralph Harary (Cotuit, Mass./Barnstable) and Aaron Hattenbach (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica) were in a group tied for 42nd with rounds of 84 each (+13).
The Judges tied with Division II Franklin Pierce College with a team score of 326, two strokes behind Amherst College. Salem State won the meet with a score of 298.
