WALTHAM, Mass. – Wheaton College rookie Kyle Sye (Acton,
Mass.) made his first collegiate goal count, scoring the overtime
winner in a 1-0 victory over Brandeis University on Gordon Field in
non-conference men's soccer action tonight.
Brandeis (2-2-2) and Wheaton (5-2-2) played very evenly in regulation. The Judges owned a 15-13 shot advantage, including a 4-2 margin in shots on goal, while corner kicks were even at four each.
Wheaton rookie goalkeeper Chris Smart (Brookfield, Conn.) made four saves, two in each half, including two fine stops on Brandeis junior Ben Premo (Florence, Mass.) in the 53rd and 55th minutes. Smart earned his first collegiate shutout with the win.
