Men's swimming wins fourth straight, 131-99, over Bentley
WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Brandeis men's swimming and diving team extended its winning streak to four in a row with a 131-99 win over cross-town rival Bentley University. The Judges won 10 of 13 events, with three multiple winners, paced by junior Aaron Bennett (Setauket, N.Y./Ward-Melville)
Bennett was the Judges' only triple winner of the evening. He captured the distance events, winning the 1000 free with a time of 10:26.61 and the 500 with a time of 5:00.14. For good measure, he also won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:01.96.
Senior James Liu (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) captured the freestyle sprint events, taking the 50 in 22.27 seconds, nearly half a second faster than the runner up, while winning the 100 by more than a second and a half in 48.42 seconds. Sophomore Marc Eder (Princeton, N.J./Lawrenceville) was victorious in the 200-yard individual medley (2:04.13) and the 200 breaststroke (2:18.02).
Also earning a win for the Judges was rookie Dan Danon (Istanbul, Turkey) in the 200 free (1:50.36).
Brandeis also won both relays, with the team of senior Justin Wellins (Canyon County, Calif./Canyon), Eder, Danon and Liu taking the 400-yard medley relay in 3:43.93 to open the meet and the foursome of Joshua Allgaier (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), Danon, Wellins and senior Jesse Hershman (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) wrapped up the meet with a win in the 400 free relay in 3:21.59.
