Men's swimming downs Trinity, 173-118, with three triple winners

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Three members of the Brandeis men's swimming and diving team were triple winners as the Judges defeated host Trinity College, 173-118, in the next-to-last dual meet of the Judges' season. Brandeis improved to 6-1 on the season with the victory.

Senior James Liu (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) led the charge for the Judges once again by winning the freestyle sprint events. He took the 50 free in 22.41 seconds, the 100 free in 48.60 seconds and the 200 in 1:48.23. All three times were 'B' cuts for the 2010 ECAC All-Division championships.

Junior Aaron Bennett (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) finished the Judges' sweep of the freestyle events by taking the distance races. Bennett captured the 500 free in 5:01.98 and the 1000 free in 10:19.00, while also capturing the 200-yard butterfly in 1:59.67.

Rookie Daniel Danon (Istanbul, Turkey) rounded out the triple winners by showing his versatility. Danon touched first in the 100 back (56.25 seconds), the 100 fly (53.83 seconds) and the 200 IM (2:06.76) to show his versatility.

Brandeis had one other multiple winner on the afternoon, as sophomore Marc Eder (Princeton, N.J./Lawrenceville) won the breaststroke races, taking the 100 in 1:01.58 and the 200 in 2:20.06.

The Judges wrap up the dual-meet season on Jan. 26 at Boston College.
