Norton runner-up in 3,000 at New England DIII Championships

-- Brandeis University rookie Paul Norton of Amherst, Mass., placed second in the 3000-meter run to earn All-New England honors and lead the Brandeis University men's indoor track and field team to a 14th-place finish at the New England Division III championships at Tufts University.
Norton finished the 3K with a time of 8:41.03 to earn the Judges' top placement of the meet. He missed winning the race by just over 1.5 seconds. Also earning individual All-New England honors was senior Dan Suher of Wilmington, Del. Suher placed fifth in the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:31.88, just three seconds off the winning pace.
The Judges also had one All-New England relay, as the team of sophomore Aaron Udel of Dalton, Mass., rookie Jeremy Goldenberg of W. Hartford, Conn., sophomore Will Collins of Sharon, Mass. and Suher on the anchor leg placed seventh in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 8:07.16.
The 14 points scored by the Judges tied them with UMass-Dartmouth for 14th place, three points ahead of Salem State College and one point behind Connecticut College and Wesleyan University.
Norton is a 2007 graduate of Amherst Regional High School. He is the son of David and Claire Norton of Amherst, Mass.
Suher is a 2004 graduate of the Charter School of Wilmington. He is the son of Howard and Lynn Suher of Wilmington, Del.
Udel is a 2006 graduate of Wahconah Regional High School. He is the son of Edward and Lisa Udel of Dalton, Mass.
Goldenberg is a 2007 graduate of Conard High School. He is the son of Steven and Andrea Goldenberg of W. Hartford, Conn.
Collins is a 2006 graduate of Sharon High School. He is the son of Ben and Anne Collins of Sharon, Mass.
