Seven from track earn outdoor All-UAA honors


WALTHAM, Mass. - The Brandeis University men's and women's track and field teams placed seven members on the All-UAA team during the University Athletic Association track and field Championships at the University of Chicago on April 19th and 20th. The women finished in fourth place with 65 points and the men finished in seventh with 28.5 points.

The top performance of the day for the Judges was turned in by senior Olivia Alford of Orono, Maine, who earned All-UAA honors for her second place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.20. Also earning honors was sophomore Quincy Auger of Middlesex, N.J. Auger placed second in the javelin with a throw of 103 feet.

Leading the pack for the Brandeis men was junior Matt Jennings of Sudbury, Mass. Jennings earned All-UAA honors with his third place finish in the 1500-meter run in a time of 4:00.32. His 4x800 relay team earned honors as well with a third place finish in a time of 7:55.91. The team consisted of Jennings, junior Mike Stone of E. Falmouth, Mass., senior John Guilinger of Boulder, Colo., and senior Dan Suher of Wilmington, Del. Also earning All-UAA honors for the men was junior Mark Edwards of Marshfield, Mass. His javelin throw of 169 feet, 11 inches was good for third place.

Alford is a 2004 graduate of Orono High School. She is the daughter of A Randall Alford and Susan Tomlin of Orono, Maine.

Auger is a 2006 graduate of Middlesex High School. She is the daughter of John and Judy Auger of Middlesex, N.J.

Jennings is a 2005 graduate of Lincoln-Sudbury High School. He is the son of Donald and Catherine Jennings of Sudbury, Mass.

Stone is a 2005 graduate of Falmouth High School. He is the son of Thomas and Ann Stone of E. Falmouth Mass.

Guilinger is a 2004 graduate of Fairview High School. He is the son of David and Mary Guilinger of Boulder, Colo.

Suher is a 2004 graduate of the Charter School of Wilmington. He is the son of Howard and Lynn Suher of Wilmington, Del.

Edwards is a 2005 graduate of Marshfield High School. He is the son of Robert and Sheila Edwards of Marshfield, Mass.
