Women's hoops romps in second-semester opener, 86-46, over Husson
WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University women's
basketball team shot a season-high 58 percent from the floor
(34-59) as the Judges rolled over visiting Husson College, 86-46,
in the second semester opener for both teams. This was the
first-ever meeting between the Judges and Eagles.
Brandeis (8-2) raced out to a 46-25 lead at halftime as they connected on 18-of-29 shots from the field (62 percent), including three-of-six from beyond the arc. The Judges also hit all seven free throws in the first half. Husson (3-5) hit just 30 percent in the first (7-23), and stayed as close as they did by hitting 10 of their 12 free throws.
For the game, the hosts were paced by 14 points each from sophomore guard Jessica Chapin (Mendon, N.Y.) and junior forward Lauren Orlando (Peabody, Mass.). Chapin hit five-of-eight from the field with one of the team's three 3-pointers, and was three-of-four from the line. She also matched her career high with six steals.
