Kendrew adds third-team All-New England honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University junior Morgan Kendrew of Cotuit, Mass., has added third-team All-New England honors to her resume. Previously named a second-team All-UAA selection at guard, she was recognized as a third-team All-region honoree by

Kendrew, who started all 25 games for the Judges, previously earned honorable mention All-UAA honors in 2010. This season, she led the Judges in scoring, averaging a career-best 12.9 points per game, sixth-highest in the conference. She also finished fifth in the circuit in free-throw percentage, hitting 82.8 percent from the line (72-87), and will enter the 2011-12 season second on the Judges' career list at 80.9 percent (152-188). Kendrew led the team with 35 3-pointers, ninth in the UAA, putting her seventh on the Brandeis career list with 87 trifectas. She was the team's leading scorer 16 times this season, including three 20-point performances. Kendrew tallied a career-high 26 points on Jan. 28 in a 76-67 UAA win over Emory University.

The Brandeis women's basketball team finished the 2010-11 season with a record of 12-13, 4-10 in the UAA in head coach Carol Simon's 24th season at the helm. The Judges owned a pair of wins over NCAA Division III tournament teams, topping Emmanuel College, 72-67 on Nov. 30, and Husson University, 63-46, on Dec. 31. They also had the closest game of the season against Babson College, who enters the NCAA tournament with an undefeated record, taking the Beavers to overtime on a late Kendrew 3-pointer, before bowing, 62-59.
