WALTHAM, Mass. – Thanks to a double-double from senior forward Sydney Sodine (New York, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West), the Brandeis University women's basketball team earned a season-opening 61-46 win over Roger Williams University in Auerbach Arena tonight.

Sodine led all players with a career-high 20 points to go with 10 rebounds, recording her fifth career double-double. She hit 7-of-10 shots from the floor and 6-of-11 from the line. She scored 13 of her 20 points and grabbed five rebounds in the first half as the Judges built a 37-29 lead at the break. Six of her 10 rebounds came on the offensive glass. Thanks to Sodine's efforts, the Judges outrebounded Roger Williams, 42-28.

Brandeis also had a terrific first-half from senior Frankie Pinto (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente), who scored 11 points in 10 minutes of action. She hit 4-of-5 overall and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc before the break. Pinto finished with 13 points for the game. Pinto also led all players with four assists.

Senior Paris Hodges (Southampton, Mass./Southampton) added eight points and nine rebounds, while classmate Maria Jackson (Rochester, N.Y./Hilton) had nine points.

Roger Williams had one player score in double digits, as junior Anna Walther (Northampton, Mass./Northampton) finished with 11 points. Senior Katie Lowerre (Sharon, Mass./Sharon) added nine points. Junior Teagan Dunn (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills) and rookie Sam Leone (Ashland, N.Y./Ashland) led the visitors with four rebounds each. Dunne and Lowerre each had two assists.
