The architect of the Brandeis University swimming and diving
program, Jim Zotz, is entering his 32nd season at Brandeis. A 1975
graduate of Niagara University with a B.S. in physical education
and a minor in philosophy, Zotz was a school record holder,
captain, and a four year finalist at the conference championships
for the Purple Eagles. Zotz received his Masters Degree from
Springfield College concentrating in exercise physiology in 1977.
In 2002 and 2004 he was recognized as the Charles Silvia
men’s Swimming Coach of the year by the New England
Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association. In addition the
Brandeis coaching staff was recognized by the University Athletic
Association in 2002 and 2004 as the Mens Swimming and Diving
coaching staff of the year. In addition Zotz is an active lecturer
at swimming workshops on the topics of goal setting, nutrition, and
stroke technique. Coach Zotz is renowned for his enthusiastic
approach and has a strong history of getting the most from his
athletes.
