Viray wins three more, but women's swimming falls to Trinity, 167-120


HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Brandeis women's swimming and diving team dropped its third-straight dual meet, falling to Trinity College, 167-120, in Hartford. The Judges are now 2-5 on the season headed into their final dual-meet of the season on Tuesday at Boston College.

Once again, the Judges were paced by senior Hollis Viray (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury), who won three events. Viray took the distance freestyle events, winnng the 500 in 5:27.41 and the 1000 in 11:09.57. She also touched first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:18.93.

Rookie Holly Spicer (Northampton, Mass./Northampton) was a multiple winner as well, taking the breaststroke events. Spicer won the 100 with a time of 1:11.43 and 200 in 2:35.95.

Single event winners for the Judges were senior Siobhan Lyons (Leominster, Mass./Notre Dame Acad.), who won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:21.58, just 0.23 of a second ahead of the Bantams' runner-up. Junior Dana Simms (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) placed first in the three-meter diving competition with a score of 232.05.
