CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Brandeis University women's soccer team
snapped a two-game losing streak today with a 2-0 win over Case
Western Reserve in University Athletic Association (UAA) action on
Brandeis (7-3-1, 1-1 UAA) got all the scoring they would need in the 25th minute in the form of a penalty kick by senior midfielder Lizzie Bremner (San Rafael, Calif.). It was her first goal of the season. The Judges added a late insurance goal with just 70 seconds left in regulation on an unassisted tally by sophomore forward Melissa Gorenkoff (Woodbury, N.Y.). The goal gave Gorenkoff the team lead with six on the season.
Case (6-6, 0-2 UAA) was held to just three shots by a stout Brandeis defense, led by junior Meredith Milstein (Waterford, Mich.) and rookies Ruth Orbach (Bellevue, Wash.) and Taryn Martiniello (Wilmington, Mass.). It was a season-low in shots allowed by the Judges. Sophomore Hillary Rosenzweig (Boca Raton, Fla.) recorded her third shutout of the campaign with two saves.
The Judges return home for more UAA action next Friday night at 7:30 p.m. when they take on the University of Chicago.
