Mimi Theodore's 55th minute goal give Judges 1-0 UAA win at Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Rookie reserve forward Mimi Theodore (Walpole, Mass.) scored her first game-winning goal of the season in the 55th minute to lead the Brandeis University women's soccer team over the University of Chicago in University Athletic Association (UAA) action this afternoon. The Judges improve to 8-4-1 overall and 2-1 UAA, while Chicago falls to 6-5-1 overall and 1-2 in the league.

After Brandeis got just one shot off in the first half, their offense improved after the break, taking seven attempts in the second. Six of their eight shots for the game were on net. Theodore scored the game's only goal when she volleyed home a throw-in by junior forward Melissa Gorenkoff (Woodbury, N.Y.) from about 12 yards out. The goal was Theodore's second of the season and career.

Chicago, which finished with a 24-8 advantage in shots and 6-0 margin in corner kicks, had their best attempts with about 20 minutes to go, but junior Hillary Rosenzweig (Boca Raton, Fla.) was up to the task. On shots by the Maroons' Maggie Tobin at with 21:19 left and Anne Scherer with 20:38 on the clock, Rosenzweig punched the ball over the net. She finished with seven saves for her sixth shutout of the season and the Judges' seventh overall.

Brandeis is next in action on Sunday afternoon when they take on 15th-ranked Washington University, their fourth nationally-ranked opponent of the campaign.
