UAA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (November 17th, 2008)
Angela Chui - Brandeis University - Toms River, NJ (Peddie School)
Rookie Angela Chui guided Brandeis University to a 119-89 win over Babson College with two individual wins and a leadoff leg in a first-place relay, breaking three school records and qualifying for nationals in the process. Chui opened the meet by leading off the backstroke leg of the 400-yard medley relay. Her splits of 29.29 seconds on the 50 and 1:00.10 in the 100 both bettered her own school records. Chui furthered her success by winning the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:08.23, setting her third school record of the night and surpassing the NCAA Division III provisional-qualifying standard. She competed in the very next race, winning the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:34.55.

Angela Chui - Brandeis University - Toms River, NJ (Peddie School)
Rookie Angela Chui of Brandeis University helped the Judges capture 13th place out of 26 teams, first among Division III schools, at the ECAC All-Division Championships at Harvard University. She was part of six school records, three individual and three relays. Her best individual performance came in the preliminaries of the 400-yard individual medley, where her time of 4:33.24 was the fourth-best overall and lowered her school-record and NCAA Division III ‘B' qualifying time by more than a second. She placed seventh in the finals. She also finished ninth in the 200-yard individual medley with a record time of 2:09.79 in the prelims. She won the ‘B' final and improved her time to 2:09.38, bettering her NCAA provisional time. Her final record came in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:08.05 in the preliminaries, improving her NCAA qualifying time by 0.18 seconds. She finished 13th in the consolation finals. Chui also helped establish school records in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:41.60), 400-yard medley relay (4:02.25) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:41.28). She now owns five Brandeis individual records and is part of all five relay records.
