NORTON, Mass. - Seniors Hollis Viray (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) and Siobhan Lyons (Leominster, Mass./Notre Dame Acad.), along with sophomore Angela Chui (Toms River, NJ/Peddie School) led the way for the Brandeis women's swimming and diving team this weekend. The Judges beat WPI 162-127, but fell to Wheaton 173-109 in the dual meet.
Viray's solid performance came in the form of three second-place finishes. She first placed in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:22.12) before the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.29) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:37.3), beating out the WPI competitor in each event. Classmate Lyons took a first-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:21.92) and two second place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (59.62) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.26). Chui provided three first-place finishes of her own. She captured the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.93), the 200-yard backstroke (2:17.16), as well as the 200-yard IM (2:13.86), beating out teammate freshman Holly Spicer (Northampton, MA/Northampton), for her final victory. Chui has now won 30 consecutive races in dual meets in her career.
