Women's swimming tops Babson by 30, 137-107

WALTHAM, Mass. - The Brandeis University swimming and diving team earned a sweep of local rival Babson College on Thursday. The Brandeis women were 137-107 victors, while the men squeaked by with a 119-114 win.

 

On the women's side, sophomore Angela Chui (Toms River, N.J./Peddie School) extended her winning streak in dual meets to 33 in a row by taking first place in the 200-yard IM (2:18.00), the 100 free (56.48 seconds) and the 200 backstroke (2:23.33). Also turning in multiple wins for the Judges were senior Hollis Viray (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury), who won the 200 and 500 freestyle races (2:01.59 and 5:26.00); senior Siobhan Lyons (Leominster, Mass./Notre Dame Acad.), who showed her versatility by winning the 1,000 freestyle (11:50.27) and the 200 butterfly (2:23.45); and junior Dana Simms (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) who took the one- and three-meter diving events (221.25 and 212.15). Senior Dasha Hentoff (Natick, Mass./New Jewish High School) had a key second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly as well, touching in 2:34.11

With the wins, the Brandeis men improve to 3-1 on the season, while the women move to 2-2. The Judges are next in action on Nov. 17 at cross-town rival Bentley College at 6:30 p.m.
