Carfagno earns second-straight Judges Classic MVP honors

WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Brandeis volleyball team had little problem with Keene State College for the second time this season, as the Judges swept the Owls, 25-17, 25-12, 25-19, in the opening round of the Judges Classic.

Senior Piera Carfagno (Los Angeles, Calif./Campbell Hall School) led the way for the Judges with 11 kills and just one error in 17 attempts for a .588 percentage. Junior setter Abby Blasco (Greeley, Colo./Greeley) fell just shy of a triple double, registering 28 assists, nine digs and nine kills. Blasco had just one error in 12 attempts for a .667 hitting percentage while quarterbacking the team to a .367 clip overall (41 kills, eight errors, 90 attempts). The nine digs were a team-high, matched by Carfagno.

The Judges take on Maine-Machias and Oneonta State tomorrow on the second day of the Classic.
