AMHERST, Mass. -- The Brandeis volleyball team dropped its last two matches at the 2011 Amherst Classic today as the Judges finished the tournament with an 0-3 record. Brandeis fell to Coast Guard (25-18, 25-9, 25-17) and Middlebury (25-10, 25-20, 25-21) and their overall record now stands at 7-7 on the season.
Against the Bears, Brandeis rookie outside hitter Liz Hood (Albuquerque, N.M./Albuquerque Acad.) and sophomore OH Si-Si Hensley (Fullerton, Calif./Troy) recorded seven and five kills, respectively, to pace the attack. Sophomore Yael Einhorn (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) tallied 13 assists. Rookie libero Elsie Bernaiche (Plantsville, Conn./Southington) and junior OH Susan Sun (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) combined for 23 digs in the loss.
Against Middlebury, Einhorn totalled 22 assists, a match-high. Hood had eight kills and six digs, while junior middle blocker Becca Fischer (San Antonio, Texas/Clark) had five kills and three blocks. Bernaiche topped the Judges with 12 digs.
Brandeis returns to action on Oct. 1-2 with the first of two University Athletic Association round robins at Washington University in St. Louis.
