Volleyball sweeps Regis in final home game of the month

WALTHAM, Massachusetts — In a workmanlike effort, the Brandeis University volleyball team swept the Regis Pride Tuesday night at Auerbach Arena, 25-16, 25-19, 25-21. Head coach Alesia Vaccari said about the victory, "It was fun to watch our team truly compete tonight. We had that sense of urgency that we've been practicing, and the girls are working so hard for each other. That has been a huge theme this season." The Judges improve to 6-3 with the win, while Regis falls to 3-9.


  • Brandeis attacked from all angles tonight, as four different Judges had six or more kills. Junior Kirsten Frauens (Webster, N.Y. / Webster Schroeder) led with eight, classmate Shea Decker-Jacoby (Los Angeles, Calif. / Marymount) had seven, and sophomore Emma Bartlett (Duxbury, Mass. / Duxbury) and freshman Marissa Borgert (Blaine, Minn. / Spring Lake Park) has six apiece.

  • Junior Leah Pearlman (El Paso, Texas / El Paso) led the team with 16 assists, classmate Yvette Cho (San Diego, Calif. / Rancho Bernardo) had a career-high eight assists, and freshman Megan Osorio Moran (Hollywood, Fla. / St. Thomas Aquinas) pitched in with seven helpers of her own.

  • For the fourth time in 2017, Cho matched her season-high of 24 digs.

  • Two other Judges had double-digit dig totals: Decker-Jacoby had 14 and Pearlman matched a season-high with 10.

  • Cho had four service aces on the match, setting a season-high.

  • The Judges hit .176 for the match (35K-14E-119TA)


  • Sydney Trusty had a match-high nine kills on an efficient .381 attack percentage. Katryna Veasey was not far behind, notching eight kills of her own.

  • Rachel Bartels took on most of the setting duties tonight, amassing 17 assists, while Haley Schulte contributed 11 of her own.

  • Three members of the Pride had 10 or more digs: Shay Faber led with 20, while Veasey and Trusty had 14 and 10 respectively.

  • The Pride hit .128 for the match (30K-15E-117TA)


  • Brandeis takes a short ride into Boston for its first road match of the season, facing Emerson College on Thursday, September 21, at 7 PM.

  • Regis has a quick turnaround, returning home to face New England College tomorrow, September 20, at 6 PM.
